September HVAC Checklist

Summer is officially over and its time to get your home ready for the fall season. With the temperature quickly cooling off, now is the time to ensure your HVAC system is in good shape. Your HVAC takes care of you and your home, but sometimes, it needs someone to care for it. Here are five things to have on your HVAC checklist for September and into Fall.

1. Adjust The Thermostat

With Summer now in the past, its time to adjust your thermostat. The air conditioning you needed in the Summertime is no longer needed and running the air conditioning in the Fall is simply just a waste. Make sure your thermostat settings are not set too low and that you are satisfied with the indoor temperature.

2. Clean the Area of the HVAC Unit

If you have an HVAC unit in your yard, it is prone to accumulate dirt, debris and leaves over the course of Summer and into Fall. If you have not cleaned the area around your HVAC unit in months, it is likely that it needs a cleanup. When you have some time available, check the area of your HVAC unit. If you see dirt, debris or leaves on it, clean it up as soon as possible. Dirt, debris and leaves can slow down your units performance and cause issues if it is left there.

3. Change the Air Filter

HVAC Air Filters are best served being changed out at least a few times a year. If your HVAC air filter has not been changed out in a handful of months, the start of Fall is a good time to give it a fresh start. A clogged air filter will slow down your HVAC’s performance and prevent it from performing at its best. Once an air filter has been changed out, you can expect cleaner, clearer air.
